
Class Information

If your child is under the age of 7 a parent/guardian must be present to take your child to the bathroom when they need to do so. Teachers cannot stop class to take children to the bathroom. Teaching assistants are needed in class as well and may not be available to take children to the bathroom.

Visitor's Week is a time when parents, family, and/or friends can sit in the dance room and watch their dancers as they take class! Due to limited space in the dance room, each dancer will be allowed 2 family members. Video and pictures are allowed.

Class & Level Descriptions

Pre Ballet
This is a fun class that teaches gross and fine motor skills, basic dance positions, improves flexibility, helps children learn to follow directions, wait their turn, and interact cooperatively with other children.
Attire: Any color leotard (with or without skirt attachment), pink tights, pink ballet shoes.
Hair out of dancer's face.
Ballet & Ballet/Pointe
**Dancers and their parents will be notified when the individual dancer is ready for pointe work, even if they are enrolled in the ballet/pointe class. Please DO NOT purchase pointe shoes until that time.**
This class teaches classical ballet technique utilizing both Vaganova and Cecchetti methods. and prepares dancers for their next level of training.
Attire: Any color leotard (with or without skirt), pink convertible tights, pink ballet shoes.
Hair in a bun at ponytail level.
Tap
This class teaches tap technique and prepares dancers for their next level of training.
Attire: Any color leotard, jazz pants, jazz shorts, or leggings, tan/skin tone convertible tights, black tap shoes.
Hair in a ponytail (must not hit the face when dancer turns head), or in a ballet bun.
Jazz
This class teaches jazz technique and prepares dancers for their next level of training.
Attire: Any color leotard, jazz pants, jazz shorts, or leggings, tan/skin tone convertible tights, black jazz shoes.
Hair in a ponytail (must not hit the face when dancer turns head), or in a ballet bun.
Hip-Hop
This class teaches hip-hop techniques from various old-school and modern dance styles and prepares dancers for their next level of training.
Attire: Any color leotard or t-shirt, jazz pants, jazz shorts, or leggings, sneakers.
Hair in a ponytail (must not hit the face when dancer turns head), or in a ballet bun.
Contemporary
**Beginning Session II (Week of October 12th), all students (except those who began in Session I) must have at least 3 years of training in ballet or 4 years of training in jazz in order to enroll in this class. If not, students must receive the instructor's approval to do so.**
This class incorporates elements of ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, and hip-hop to produce a well-rounded and holistic dancer. Students will also learn some basic acrobatics techniques.
Attire: Any color leotard, jazz pants, jazz shorts, or leggings, tan/skin tone convertible tights, flesh-colored lyrical or contemporary half footed shoes.
Hair in a ponytail (must not hit the face when dancer turns head), or in a ballet bun.
Choreography
**Students must have at least 3 years of training in ballet or 4 years of training in jazz in order to enroll in this class. If not, students must receive the instructor's approval to do so.**
This class allows students to begin working on choreography for themselves and/or their classmates. Students will learn how to incorporate props into their dances as well as learn how to tell a story with their dance.
Attire: Any color leotard, jazz pants, jazz shorts, or leggings, tan/skin tone convertible tights, flesh-colored lyrical or contemporary half footed shoes.
Hair in a ponytail (must not hit the face when dancer turns head), or in a ballet bun.
Acro (Acrobatics)
This class teaches acro technique and prepares dancers for their next level of training. For now, this class will be incorporated into Miss Cara’s classes (except for ballet and tap).
Attire: Any color leotard, jazz pants, jazz shorts, or leggings, tan/skin tone convertible tights, bare feet
Hair in a ponytail (must not hit the face when dancer turns head), or in a ballet bun.
Class Levels
Beginner/Intermediate
For those who have never taken class before, have taken a limited amount of classes, or are working towards advanced training. This is also for those who have a large gap in training from when they last took dance class in the particular style and are looking to refresh their skills.
Advanced
For those who have taken class in the particular style for at least 4 years or have received instructor approval. This class will focus on refining technique and taking dancers to a higher level. It will be more challenging but still just as fun!
Private Lessons

Contact the instructor of your choice to schedule private lessons. Ages 7 and up ONLY.

Winter show solos/duets/trios with Miss Cara must be requested by September 11th. These will be about 1 minute long. Only 2 spots available. Ages 7 and up.

Spring show solos/duets/trios with Miss Cara must be requested by October 13th. Lessons must begin by the 2nd week of classes after the Winter Break. These will have no set time limit. Only 4 spots available. Ages 7 and up.

Students are also welcome to choreograph their own solos with approval from the instructor and requests made by the dates specified above. Unlimited spots are available if you are making up your own dance.
